The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) in Prince Edward Island (PEI)

Prince Edward Island (PEI) seeks to attract workers who value a lifestyle in safe, close-knit communities. The AIP on the Island is particularly robust in sectors such as Information Technology (IT), Bioscience, and Services.

Core Rules and Requirements (Government of PEI & IRCC)

  • Job Offer: You must have a valid job offer from an employer in PEI who has been officially designated by the provincial government under the AIP.

  • Work Experience: You must demonstrate work experience in TEER categories 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4. At least 1,560 hours in the last 5 years are required.

  • Education: An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is mandatory if your studies were completed outside of Canada to ensure they meet Canadian standards.

  • Language Proficiency: A minimum of CLB 4 is required. An example of CLB 4 proficiency is being able to understand instructions during a staff meeting and answering straightforward questions.

  • Settlement Funds: You must possess the required savings as per IRCC guidelines for your arrival in Charlottetown (unless already working in Canada).

Success Story: Arjun’s Path to Charlottetown

To illustrate how the program works, let’s look at Arjun, a software developer from India who chose Charlottetown for his new life.

Arjun worked for a large corporation in Hyderabad but yearned for a less stressful pace of life closer to nature. His challenge was to find a tech company in PEI that was already designated under the AIP.

Arjun refined his portfolio and reached out to technical support centers listed in our Atlantino Support Directory. Through persistence, he secured an offer from a local biotechnology startup.

Arjun received his provincial endorsement in just a few months. He currently lives near the coast, enjoys a growing career, and contributes actively to the Island’s tech ecosystem.
